Challenge

As a UI designer for the BCB Platform project, the primary challenge was harmonizing design elements to cater to diverse markets with varying cultural and behavioral expectations. Successfully integrating the platform into new territories required a nuanced understanding of local values and preferences. The challenge was to design an interface that not only aligns with the global brand identity but also resonates with users in different cultural contexts.

Goals

The goal for the UI design in the BCB Platform project was to create a cohesive and intuitive digital experience. This involved developing a user interface that transcends cultural barriers, making it accessible and appealing to a wide range of users. The aim was to streamline the digital onboarding process for non-clients, ensuring a seamless and visually engaging journey. By achieving this goal, the UI design contributes to making the Digital Platform a singular, user-friendly hub for diverse banking services, fostering trust and interaction among users.

Process

As a UI designer operating within an agile environment, I played a pivotal role on a dynamic project, collaborating with a cross-functional team consisting of analysts, developers, designers, and architects. My responsibilities extended to leading tickets, facilitating meetings, and ensuring effective communication with the broader team.

Sprint Activities:

  • Engaged in team retrospective meetings to share ideas and contribute to continuous improvement.

  • Participated in sprint planning sessions to break down tasks and assign responsibilities.

  • Collaborated in backlog refinement sessions, fostering brainstorming for diverse ideas.

User Flows, Design, and Prototyping:

  • Utilized Figma for UI design, wireframing, and prototyping.

  • Facilitated collaborative sessions and research using Miro.

  • Led ticket management with Jira, ensuring streamlined workflows.

  • Contributed to the creation of design components with Illustrator.

Testing and Environments:

  • Conducted UI research to ensure designs met and exceeded client expectations.

  • Actively participated in testing phases in both SIT and DEV environments, refining the user interface.

    Product Definition:

    • Collaborated with stakeholders to understand user requirements and business goals.

    • Created user personas, user stories, and use case diagrams to define the product scope.

    Research:

    • Conducted thorough market and competitor analysis.

    • Performed user research to identify needs, expectations, and pain points.

    Analysis:

    • Developed hypothetical personas and experience maps based on research findings.

    Design:

Conclusion

My role as a UI designer on this project involved not just the creation of visually appealing interfaces but also active collaboration, leadership in ticket management, and contributions to an agile and innovative development process.
